Origami church is a challenging origami project. It not only exercises our spatial thinking and delicate manual skills but also enables us to experience the charm of architectural art during the folding process. Through precise folding and ingenious combination, we can transform a flat piece of paper into a three - dimensional church. Now, let's give it a try!
First, prepare a square piece of colored paper. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly.
Step 1: First, fold out a 'rice - shaped' pattern (two diagonal creases intersecting to form a shape similar to the Chinese character for 'rice'). Then, fold the paper towards the middle part to form a double - triangle, as shown in Figure 3 above.
Step 2: Place the double - triangle flat. Fold the two side corners upwards respectively to coincide with the top vertex, as shown in Figure 4 above.
Step 3: Expand the paper outwards along the red line in Figure 4. Make the outer top vertex coincide with the middle point of the bottom side, as shown in Figure 1 below.
Step 4: Fold the two corners downwards respectively to form the pattern shown in Figure 2 above.
Step 5: According to the red - line markings in Figure 2 above, fold both sides inwards respectively to form Figure 3.
Step 6: Repeat the same folding steps on the reverse side. Please refer to steps 2 - 5.
Step 7: According to the blue - line markings in Figure 4, fold the two corners downwards respectively to form Figure 1 below.
Step 8: Expand the first - layer paper outwards and arrange the upper triangle properly to form Figure 2 above.
Step 9: At the position marked by the blue line in Figure 2 above, fold the triangle upwards to form Figure 3. Repeat the same folding method on the reverse side. Finally, such an origami church is completed.
