Origami dragonfly is a simple and interesting handicraft activity, which is highly suitable for children aged 3 - 4. Parents can take it as a planar origami project for parent - child activities and get hands - on with their kids. The finished dragonfly has a flat shape. It can be directly pasted onto cardboard or walls as a decoration, adding a touch of natural vividness. It can also be hung up with a thin string, making it seem as if it is flying freely in the air, adding a unique charm to the space.
Materials: Red craft paper (15x7.5cm), gold craft paper (7.5x7.5cm), white craft paper, black pen, scissors
Step 1: Fold the red craft paper horizontally, and then fold it again to form a long strip.
Step 2: Next, fold the long strip vertically. This will be used as the dragonfly's body and set aside.
Step 3: For the gold craft paper, fold it in half and then unfold it to create a middle crease.
Step 4: Then fold both sides towards the middle crease until the edges align with the middle crease.
Step 5: Flip the paper over, and fold the four corners slightly inwards to form small triangles. Flip it back, and the dragonfly's wings are completed.
Step 6: Then open the dragonfly's body, apply glue from one end to the other (in the direction of the arrow in the picture). Stick one end onto the middle line on the back of the wings, making sure the top edges are aligned.
Step 7: Fold the body in half again and stick it firmly.
Step 8: Now, cut out two round white paper pieces to be the dragonfly's big eyes. Use a black marker or pen to draw small circles in the middle of the white round paper pieces as the pupils.
Step 9: Finally, stick the pupils onto the dragonfly's head.
Step 10: This simple little dragonfly is very suitable for kindergarten children to make in handicraft classes. Whether used for sticker paintings or decorations, it serves as excellent material.
